- Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of complex legal issues.
- Represent the State of California in court proceedings, including drafting legal briefs, arguing cases, and presenting evidence.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal strategies to protect the interests of the State and its citizens.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to state agencies, public officials, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and law enforcement agencies in investigating and prosecuting criminal activity.
- Review and analyze proposed legislation and regulations to assess potential impact on the State and its citizens.
- Stay current on legal developments and changes in laws and regulations relevant to the Department of Justice's areas of responsibility.
- Prepare legal opinions, memoranda, and other legal documents as needed.
- Conduct negotiations and mediations on behalf of the State in civil matters.
- Manage a caseload and prioritize tasks to ensure timely and effective completion of responsibilities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
- Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities to enhance legal knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to support a positive and productive work environment.
- Represent the Department of Justice in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.
Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.
Admission To The California State Bar And Active License To Practice Law In The State.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, With A Focus On Criminal Or Civil Litigation.
Familiarity With The Laws And Legal Processes In The State Of California.
Strong Written And Oral Communication Skills, As Well As The Ability To Work Well In A Team Environment.
