Job Description

Welcome to the State of California's adoptions team! We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Adoptions Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in helping children find their forever families through the adoption process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of adoption laws and regulations, as well as the ability to work closely with birth parents, adoptive families, and other professionals.   1. Conduct thorough and detailed assessments of potential adoptive families to ensure they meet state and federal adoption requirements.
  2. Facilitate the adoption process by coordinating with birth parents, adoptive families, and other professionals to ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Act as a liaison between all parties involved in the adoption process, providing support and guidance to birth parents and adoptive families throughout the process.
  4. Maintain a thorough understanding of adoption laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to state and federal guidelines.
  5. Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to provide support and resources for birth parents and adoptive families.
  6. Conduct home visits and interviews with potential adoptive families to assess their suitability and readiness for adoption.
  7. Assist with the placement of children into adoptive homes, including coordinating and overseeing the transition process.
  8. Provide education and training to adoptive families on topics such as attachment, trauma, and cultural competency.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation for all adoptions, including case notes, reports, and legal paperwork.
  10. Participate in team meetings and trainings to stay informed about the latest adoption practices and policies.
  11. Demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, and respect when working with birth parents and adoptive families from diverse backgrounds.
  12. Uphold the agency's ethical standards and confidentiality policies throughout the adoption process.
  13. Serve as an advocate for children in the adoption process, ensuring their best interests are prioritized and their voices are heard.
  14. Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to promote adoption and recruit potential adoptive families.
  15. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service to all individuals involved in the adoption process.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Social Work, Psychology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Child Welfare Or Adoption Agency.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Pertaining To Adoption And Child Welfare.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations.

  • Ability To Manage And Prioritize Caseloads, Maintain Accurate Records, And Meet Deadlines.
