Job Description

Are you a compassionate and experienced psychiatric nurse looking for a leadership role? The State of Arizona is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Shift Supervisor to join our team and make a positive impact on the mental health care of our patients. As a Shift Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to supervise and support a team of dedicated nurses while also providing direct patient care.   1. Oversee and supervise a team of psychiatric nurses to ensure high quality patient care and adherence to protocols and procedures.
  2. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to nurses, including new hires and those in need of additional training.
  3. Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and addressing any areas of improvement.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  5. Monitor and manage patient caseload, ensuring timely and appropriate care is provided.
  6. Serve as a resource for staff, providing knowledge and expertise in psychiatric nursing.
  7. Maintain and update patient records and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  8. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, addressing any safety concerns promptly.
  9. Facilitate communication and collaboration between staff, patients, and their families.
  10. Stay current on advancements and changes in psychiatric nursing practices and techniques.
  11. Adhere to all state and federal laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  12. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other departmental activities.
  13. Promote and maintain a positive and professional work culture.
  14. Serve as a role model for compassionate and ethical patient care.
  15. Handle any disciplinary actions or conflicts among staff with sensitivity and professionalism.
  16. Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling and budgeting.
  17. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
  18. Respond to emergency situations as needed and follow proper protocols.
  19. Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance patient care and staff efficiency.
  20. Act as a liaison between the nursing staff and upper management, conveying concerns, suggestions, and updates.

Job Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Arizona

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn) From An Accredited Institution

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Psychiatric Nurse In A Healthcare Setting

  • Prior Experience In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role, Preferably In A Psychiatric Unit Or Facility

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Mental Health Treatment And Confidentiality.
