  1. Coordinate and dispatch resources for initial attack operations on wildland fires.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Wildland Firefighting: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Wildland Firefighting Techniques, Strategies, And Terminology. They Should Also Have Experience Working In A Dispatch Center Or In The Field As A Wildland Firefighter.

  • Communication Skills: As An Initial Attack Dispatcher, Clear And Effective Communication Is Crucial. The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate With Fire Personnel, Other Dispatch Centers, And The General Public.

  • Emergency Response Experience: Candidates Should Have Experience In Responding To Emergency Situations And Making Quick And Effective Decisions Under Pressure. This Could Include Previous Experience As A Dispatcher, Emergency Medical Technician, Or In A Similar Role.

  • Mapping And Gps Skills: A Strong Understanding Of Mapping And Gps Technology Is Important For An Initial Attack Dispatcher. They Should Be Able To Read And Interpret Maps, As Well As Use Gps Systems To Accurately Locate And Track Fire Incidents.

  • Interpersonal Skills: The Job Of An Initial Attack Dispatcher Involves Working Closely With Other Dispatchers, Fire Personnel, And Members Of The Public. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Strong Interpersonal Skills And The Ability To Work Well In A Team Environment. They Should Also Have The Ability To Remain Calm And Professional In High-Stress Situations.
