This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and accuracy of all federal and cost accounting activities for the state.   1. Maintain accurate and transparent federal and cost accounting records for the state of Arizona.
  2. Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines related to accounting and financial reporting.
  3. Perform regular audits and reviews of financial records to identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
  4. Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to federal agencies and other stakeholders.
  5. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to gather and analyze financial data and make recommendations for budget planning and forecasting.
  7. Monitor and track federal funding and expenditures, ensuring proper allocation and utilization.
  8. Conduct cost analysis and provide financial insights to support decision-making processes.
  9. Train and mentor junior accounting staff on federal and cost accounting processes and procedures.
  10. Stay updated on changes in federal and state accounting regulations and communicate any updates or changes to relevant stakeholders.
  11. Participate in meetings and presentations to provide financial expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and security of financial data and records.
  13. Handle any other accounting duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Federal And Cost Accounting, Preferably In A Government Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Accounting Principles, Laws, And Regulations.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Interpret Financial Data And Make Recommendations.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Other Departments And Stakeholders.
