Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Community Reentry Substance Abuse Counselor at the State of Arizona.In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals in their journey towards recovery and reentry into society. You will work closely with clients to develop treatment plans, provide individual and group counseling, and connect them with necessary resources to support their recovery and successful reintegration.To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field and be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Arizona.   1. Develop and implement effective treatment plans for individuals with substance abuse issues and criminal justice involvement.
  2. Provide individual and group counseling to clients to address their substance abuse and criminal justice challenges.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments to determine the individual's treatment needs and make appropriate referrals to community resources.
  4. Collaborate with other professionals and agencies involved in the individual's care to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to treatment.
  5. Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress, treatment plans, and other documentation as required by state regulations.
  6. Stay updated on current research and best practices in substance abuse treatment and utilize this knowledge in developing treatment plans and delivering services.
  7. Assist clients in developing relapse prevention strategies and provide ongoing support to maintain sobriety and successful reintegration into the community.
  8. Conduct regular evaluations of treatment progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  9. Educate clients and their families about substance abuse, recovery, and the criminal justice system to promote understanding and support.
  10. Maintain a positive and empowering attitude towards clients, encouraging their personal growth and self-sufficiency.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards in accordance with state regulations and agency policies.
  12. Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to advocate for improved services and resources for individuals with substance abuse and criminal justice involvement.
  13. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in substance abuse treatment and criminal justice.
  14. Serve as a role model for clients by promoting healthy and responsible behavior and attitudes towards substance abuse and the criminal justice system.
  15. Contribute to the overall success of the agency by actively participating in team meetings, supervision, and other agency initiatives.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Or A Related Field

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (Csac) Or Equivalent Credential

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Individuals Involved In The Criminal Justice System

  • Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities For Substance Abuse And Mental Health Disorders

  • Familiarity With The Arizona Criminal Justice System And Community Resources For Reentry Support.
