  1. Manage and maintain the photography collection at Stanford University, including organizing, preserving, and cataloging materials.
  2. Utilize knowledge of photography techniques and history to accurately identify and categorize materials in the collection.
  3. Collaborate with other librarians and archivists to develop and implement strategies for the acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of photography materials.
  4. Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and researchers using the photography collection.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with donors, photographers, and other individuals or organizations to acquire new materials for the collection.
  6. Stay informed on current trends and advancements in photography and identify potential additions to the collection.
  7. Train and supervise student workers and volunteers in the proper handling and preservation of photography materials.
  8. Collaborate with the digital archivist to digitize and make the collection accessible online.
  9. Assist with exhibitions and displays featuring photography materials from the collection.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the management of the photography collection.
  11. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current in the field of library and archival work.
  12. Represent Stanford University at conferences and events related to photography and archives.
  13. Maintain accurate records and statistics related to the photography collection for reporting purposes.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures for the management of the photography collection.

Job Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree In Library And Information Science Or A Related Field, With A Specialization In Archival Studies Or Digital Curation.

  • Previous Experience In A Photography Library Or Archives, With A Strong Understanding Of Photographic Collections, Preservation Techniques, And Metadata Standards.

  • Knowledge Of Specialized Software And Tools Used For Managing And Preserving Digital Images, Such As Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom, And Digital Asset Management Systems.

  • Familiarity With Copyright Laws And Ethical Considerations Related To The Use And Display Of Photographic Materials.

  • Strong Organizational And Project Management Skills, With The Ability To Prioritize Tasks, Meet Deadlines, And Work Independently As Well As Collaboratively With Colleagues And Researchers.
