Metadata Specialist

The Stanford University Libraries are seeking a Metadata Specialist to join the team and help make our library resources easier to find and use. As a Metadata Specialist, you will help us design, develop, and implement innovative approaches to library metadata, while contributing to the success of our library and users. We are looking for an experienced individual with a knack for problem solving and the ability to work collaboratively with library staff and users.To be successful in this role, you should have a comprehensive understanding of cataloging standards, library systems, and library workflows. You should also be knowledgeable in various metadata formats, including MARC, Dublin Core, and others. Furthermore, you should be familiar with the principles of information architecture, including taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and linked data.If you have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a passion for libraries, we’d love to hear from you.
