Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Bioinformatics Engineer to join the team at Stanford University. This person will be an integral member of the Bioinformatics team within the School of Medicine and serve as a key contributor to the research mission. The successful candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics and experience developing and implementing software solutions for biology, medical and health-related research. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, a collaborative and innovative mindset, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Required Qualifications:- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biological Sciences or a related field- At least two years of experience in bioinformatics or related field- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, C++, and Perl- Experience working with large datasets and databases such as Hadoop, MongoDB, and SQL- Working knowledge of bioinformatics tools and techniques such as BLAST, gene annotation, and sequence alignment- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement software solutions for research projects- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written- Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues - Commitment to professional development and staying current with advancements in bioinformatics
