Job Description

We are searching for an Authority & Entity Management Librarian to join the Stanford University Libraries' Cataloging Department. The ideal candidate is an innovative, organized, and service-oriented individual who is passionate about enriching library catalogs and providing an excellent library experience for our patrons. The Authority & Entity Management Librarian is responsible for maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy in the library catalog. This includes creating, updating, and resolving authority and entity records in the Stanford Libraries’ Integrated Library System (ILS). The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as they will collaborate closely with colleagues in the Cataloging Department and other library departments. Required Qualifications:• A Library and Information Science (LIS) graduate degree from an ALA-accredited institution • A minimum of two years of professional cataloging experience • Knowledge of LCSH, LC-NACO, and other authority control standards • Demonstrated experience with MarcEdit, OCLC Connexion, and other cataloging software systems • Experience with RDA, AACR2, and other cataloging standards • Knowledge of cataloging principles and practices • Demonstrated ability to develop and complete complex cataloging projects • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
