1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the Career Services department to align with the university's mission and goals.
2. Provide leadership and direction to a team of career counselors and support staff, promoting a positive and student-centered work environment.
3. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate career development into the curriculum and ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills and resources for their career journeys.
4. Conduct individual and group career counseling sessions to assist students in exploring career options, setting career goals, and creating action plans.
5. Stay updated on industry trends, labor market information, and job market demands to inform students of potential career opportunities and help them make informed decisions.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and other professionals to create job and internship opportunities for students.
7. Plan and execute career fairs, networking events, and workshops to provide students with opportunities to network, develop professional skills, and learn about different career paths.
8. Utilize career assessment tools and resources to help students identify their strengths, interests, and values and match them with suitable career options.
9. Continuously evaluate and improve career services programs and initiatives to meet the evolving needs of students and the job market.
10. Collaborate with other departments, such as Alumni Relations and Development, to engage alumni in career development activities and foster a strong alumni network for students.
11. Maintain accurate records and data on student career outcomes and use this information to inform decision-making and improve services.
12. Stay informed about laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to career services and ensure compliance with them.
13. Serve as a liaison between the university and external organizations, attending conferences and networking events to promote the university and its career services.
14. Manage the career services budget and resources effectively to ensure the department's operations run smoothly.
15. Serve as an advocate for students, providing guidance, support, and resources to help them navigate challenges and achieve their career goals.
