Job Description

SoCalGas is looking for an experienced and motivated GIS Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your Geographic Information Systems (GIS) knowledge to help us create, maintain, and analyze spatial datasets to support our business operations. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong technical background in GIS and have excellent organizational and communication skills. If you are passionate about GIS and have the qualifications we are seeking, we invite you to apply for this position today!Required Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field• At least 5 years of experience in GIS• Demonstrated expertise in GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS, ArcMap, and/or QGIS• Experience with spatial analysis, cartography, and/or database management• Knowledge of software programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and/or SQL• Excellent communication and organizational skills• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize GIS knowledge to create, maintain, and analyze spatial datasets.
  2. Actively participate in the development of GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS, ArcMap, and QGIS.
  3. Perform spatial analysis, cartography, and database management.
  4. Use software programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
  5. Communicate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  6. Work independently or as part of a team.
  7. Ensure accuracy and quality of all projects.
  8. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members.
  9. Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and advancements in the GIS field.
  10. Document all projects and workflows.
