Job Description

Sirius XM Radio is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to join our team at the Uplink Control Center. As a Senior Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our satellite uplink systems, which are the backbone of our radio broadcasts. If you have a strong background in satellite communications and a desire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, we want to hear from you!

  1. Maintain and troubleshoot satellite uplink systems to ensure uninterrupted radio broadcast.
  2. Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying and addressing any issues that may arise.
  3. Coordinate with other technicians to ensure timely and efficient resolution of technical problems.
  4. Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades on equipment to keep systems running at optimal levels.
  5. Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and advancements in technology to continuously improve systems and processes.
  6. Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the Uplink Control Center.
  7. Train and mentor junior technicians on system operations and troubleshooting techniques.
  8. Collaborate with engineering and other teams to implement new systems and technologies.
  9. Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical broadcast systems.
  10. Maintain accurate records of system maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  11. Communicate with management and other teams to provide updates on system performance and any potential issues.
  12. Adhere to all safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
  13. Provide technical support during live broadcasts and events.
  14. Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  15. Proactively identify and address potential risks and vulnerabilities in the system.
  16. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs and maintenance.
  17. Act as a liaison between the Uplink Control Center and other departments within the organization.
  18. Maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Technical Knowledge And Experience In Satellite Uplink Systems, Including Familiarity With Satellite Transmission Protocols And Equipment.

  • Strong Troubleshooting Skills And The Ability To Quickly Identify And Resolve Technical Issues In A Fast-Paced Live Broadcast Environment.

  • Proficiency In Operating And Maintaining Uplink Control Center Equipment, Including Satellite Modems, Receivers, And Encoders.

  • Experience In Managing And Coordinating Satellite Feeds For Multiple Channels And Events, Including Scheduling And Monitoring Signal Quality.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate Effectively With Other Technicians, Engineers, And Broadcast Personnel To Ensure Smooth Operations And Timely Response To Any Technical Challenges.
