- Provide compassionate care to patients by assisting with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature, and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Assist with patient mobility, including transferring and positioning patients as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient care environment to ensure the safety and comfort of patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to provide quality care and address any concerns or questions.
- Administer medication, under the supervision of a nurse, and accurately document all medications given.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses and doctors, to develop and implement care plans for patients.
- Stay current on all training and certifications required for the position to provide safe and effective care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.
- Continuously assess patient needs and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care discussions and planning.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and respect their privacy at all times.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during difficult times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the healthcare team or supervisor.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Or Equivalent Certification: A Patient Care Technician At Select Medical Must Have A Valid Cna Certification Or An Equivalent Certification From A Recognized Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Basic Care To Patients.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Select Medical Prefers Candidates With Prior Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital, Nursing Home, Or Rehabilitation Center. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With Medical Terminology, Infection Control Protocols, And Patient Care Procedures.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Patient Care Technician, The Candidate May Be Required To Assist With Emergency Situations. Therefore, Having A Current Bls Certification Is Essential To Ensure The Candidate Is Trained In Cpr And Other Life-Saving Techniques.
Strong Communication Skills: Patient Care Technicians At Select Medical Have A Lot Of Direct Contact With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Crucial For Effectively Conveying Information, Providing Updates, And Documenting Patient Care.
