
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

- Conduct occupational therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Administer therapeutic activities and exercises to improve patients' fine motor skills, coordination, and mobility.
- Educate patients and their families on appropriate home exercises and activities to continue progress outside of therapy sessions.
- Communicate regularly with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and ensure comprehensive treatment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting progress and any changes in treatment plans.
- Monitor and report any changes in patients' conditions or responses to therapy to the supervising occupational therapist.
- Adhere to all ethical and professional standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to establish goals and expectations for therapy.
- Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment and ensure equipment is properly used and maintained.
- Continuously assess and adjust treatment plans based on patients' progress and changing needs.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their therapy journey.
- Uphold a positive and professional attitude towards patients, colleagues, and management at all times.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the therapy department and across the organization.
Associate's Degree In Occupational Therapy Assistant Program: A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Occupational Therapy Assistant Program From An Accredited Institution Is Required For This Position.
State Licensure And Certification: The Candidate Must Hold A Valid State License As A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (Cota) And Must Be Certified By The National Board For Certification In Occupational Therapy (Nbcot).
Clinical Experience: Prior Experience Working As An Occupational Therapy Assistant In A Clinical Setting Is Preferred. This Includes Experience With Adults And Geriatric Patients In A Rehabilitation Or Skilled Nursing Facility.
Knowledge Of Occupational Therapy Principles And Techniques: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Occupational Therapy Principles And Techniques, As Well As The Ability To Implement Treatment Plans Designed By A Licensed Occupational Therapist.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Requires Frequent Communication With Patients, Family Members, And Other Healthcare Professionals. The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With A Diverse Patient Population And Interdisciplinary Team.
