Job Description

The Financial Services Analyst is responsible for the day to day fiscal activity associated with the administration of Ship Operations and Marine Technical Services (SOMTS), a unique seagoing department of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The Financial Services Analyst coordinates and audits express card transactions and prepares activity reports for supervisors, follows-up on accounting documents, and provides assistance as directed by the Senior Financial Analyst and Business Officer. The incumbent also processes departmental payroll. Participates in developing departmental policies and procedures, solving problems that require significant knowledge and experience in personnel and payroll management, travel, and accounting.

Job Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and payroll policies and practices.

  • Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Strong experience with online and web-based accounting systems with extensive use of financial/accounting systems and processes.
