  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned departments within the store.
  2. Ensure all merchandise is properly stocked and displayed to meet customer needs.
  3. Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  4. Train and develop department team members to provide exceptional customer service.
  5. Collaborate with other department specialists and store management to develop and implement strategies to increase sales and improve overall department performance.
  6. Communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized department, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
  8. Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  9. Monitor and track department sales, expenses, and profitability.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes, and make recommendations for improvement to department processes and procedures.
  11. Assist with planning and executing promotional events and displays.
  12. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
  13. Continually seek ways to improve department operations and enhance the overall customer experience.
  14. Participate in store meetings and training sessions as required.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by store management.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Retail Operations: Candidates For A Department Specialist Role At Save Mart Supermarkets Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Retail Environment, Preferably In A Supervisory Or Management Position. This Will Demonstrate A Strong Understanding Of Store Operations And Customer Service.

  • Knowledge Of Merchandising And Inventory Management: A Department Specialist Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Merchandising Principles And Inventory Management Techniques. This Includes Experience With Ordering, Receiving, And Maintaining Accurate Inventory Levels.

  • Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Key Member Of The Store's Management Team, A Department Specialist Must Have Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Team Members, Customers, And Upper Management.

  • Ability To Analyze Data And Make Informed Decisions: A Successful Department Specialist Should Be Able To Analyze Sales And Inventory Data To Make Informed Decisions About Product Placement, Pricing, And Promotions. This Requires Strong Analytical Skills And The Ability To Think Critically.

  • Knowledge Of Food Safety And Sanitation: Working In A Grocery Store Requires A Deep Understanding Of Food Safety And Sanitation Practices. Candidates For A Department Specialist Position Should Have Knowledge Of These Principles And Be Able To Ensure They Are Followed By All Team Members.
