
Observability Engineer

- Develop and maintain observability strategies and processes to ensure the reliability and performance of complex software systems.
- Utilize observability tools and techniques to identify and troubleshoot issues in real-time.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and improve observability solutions.
- Monitor and analyze system performance and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Design and implement new observability capabilities to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in observability.
- Train and educate team members on observability tools and techniques.
- Plan and execute system performance and load testing.
- Develop and maintain documentation for observability processes and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide updates on system performance and any issues that arise.
- Proactively identify potential issues and suggest solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to observability.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to system alerts and incidents in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with development teams to implement observability best practices into the software development lifecycle.
- Continuously monitor and analyze system logs and metrics to identify and address any potential security concerns.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of observability processes.
- Take ownership of observability-related projects and see them through to completion.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the company's products and systems in order to provide effective support and recommendations for observability improvements.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions for improving observability processes and procedures.
- Keep track of and report on key performance indicators related to observability.
Strong Technical Background: A Successful Observability Engineer At Sap Must Possess A Strong Technical Background With Experience In Software Development, System Administration, And/Or Infrastructure Engineering.
Proficiency In Observability Tools: Candidates Should Have A Deep Understanding And Practical Experience With Observability Tools Such As Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, And Elastic Stack. Knowledge Of Emerging Tools And Technologies In This Space Is Also A Plus.
Knowledge Of Cloud Platforms: Sap Is A Leader In The Enterprise Cloud Space, And Therefore, An Observability Engineer Must Have Experience With Cloud Platforms Such As Aws, Azure, Or Gcp. Knowledge Of Cloud-Native Observability Practices And Tools Is Also Critical.
Experience With Monitoring And Alerting: The Ability To Design, Implement, And Maintain Effective Monitoring And Alerting Systems Is Crucial For This Role. Candidates Should Have Experience With Various Monitoring Tools And Frameworks Such As Nagios, Zabbix, Or Datadog.
Communication And Collaboration Skills: As An Observability Engineer, You Will Be Working Closely With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Developers, Operations, And Product Owners. Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.
