Job Description

At San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), we are looking for an innovative and experienced Principal Engineer - Electric Distribution to join our team. As a key member of the SDG&E engineering team, this individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the electric distribution system. In this role, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for providing technical guidance to other engineers, developing and managing electric utility projects, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in electric utility engineering, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and a Professional Engineering (PE) license. Additionally, the Principal Engineer should have excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.If you are a professional engineer looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity, this position may be the perfect fit for you. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical guidance to other engineers on the SDG&E team.
  2. Develop and manage electric utility projects.
  3. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  4. Manage the electric distribution system.
  5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  6. Solve complex engineering problems.
  7. Make decisions regarding engineering projects.
  8. Maintain a valid Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  9. Maintain knowledge of new technologies and trends in the electric utility engineering field.
  10. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
