Engineer- I/Sr. Substation Engineer
At San Diego Gas & Electric, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineer- I/Sr. Substation Engineer to join our team. This position requires strong technical, leadership, and communication skills to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service. The successful candidate will have a technical engineering degree with 5-7 years of experience in a substation engineering role with a utility or engineering consulting firm. The Engineer- I/Sr. Substation Engineer must have a deep understanding of the principles and practices of engineering design, construction, and maintenance of substations; possess strong communication and interpersonal skills; and be able to collaborate effectively with other engineers, planners, and operations personnel. This position involves working with a diverse group of people to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electric service. It requires a passion for delivering outstanding customer service, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Design, construct, and maintain safe and reliable substations in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement engineering plans, designs, and specifications to meet customer requirements and exceed expectations.
- Collaborate effectively with other engineers, planners, and operations personnel to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electric service.
- Manage and monitor projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
- Provide technical support to customers and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Remain up to date with industry best practices and technological advancements.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends.
