- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of production equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify any potential issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair any mechanical, electrical, or software malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime.
- Implement preventative maintenance measures to prevent machinery breakdowns and increase equipment lifespan.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for improving equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Document all maintenance and repairs performed, including parts used and time spent, to maintain accurate records and assist with budget planning.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify patterns or trends that may indicate the need for further maintenance or upgrades.
- Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and technologies to continuously improve maintenance processes and techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
- Train and mentor junior technicians and assist with their development in production maintenance skills.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Technical Expertise: A Production Maintenance Technician At Ryder System Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Mechanical, Electrical, And Hydraulic Systems. They Should Be Able To Troubleshoot And Repair A Variety Of Equipment And Machinery Used In The Production Process.
Experience In Preventive Maintenance: Candidates For This Role Should Have Experience In Conducting Regular Maintenance Activities To Prevent Breakdowns And Improve Equipment Reliability. This Includes Creating And Following Maintenance Schedules, Performing Routine Inspections, And Keeping Accurate Records.
Knowledge Of Safety Protocols: The Production Floor Can Be A Hazardous Environment, So It Is Essential For A Production Maintenance Technician To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety Procedures And Regulations. This Includes Knowledge Of Lockout/Tagout Procedures, Personal Protective Equipment (Ppe), And Other Safety Protocols.
Strong Problem-Solving Skills: A Production Maintenance Technician Must Be Able To Analyze And Troubleshoot Equipment Issues To Determine The Root Cause And Implement Effective Solutions. They Should Also Be Able To Think Critically And Make Quick Decisions To Minimize Downtime And Keep Production Running Smoothly.
Communication And Teamwork: As Part Of A Larger Production Team, A Production Maintenance Technician Should Have Excellent Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Collaboratively. They Should Be Able To Communicate Equipment Issues And Updates Effectively To Supervisors And Other Team Members, As Well As Assist And Support Colleagues When Needed.
