
Intern - Underwriting

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the reinsurance industry and work alongside experienced professionals. - Assist with underwriting tasks such as reviewing policy documents and analyzing risk data.
- Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor analysis.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions to learn about reinsurance processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with underwriters to assess risk and make recommendations for coverage.
- Learn and utilize underwriting software and systems to input and analyze data.
- Communicate with clients and brokers to gather necessary information and provide updates on policies.
- Maintain accurate and organized files for policies and client information.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies.
- Identify and report any potential issues or concerns to senior underwriters.
- Take on additional tasks and projects as assigned by the supervisor to gain a comprehensive understanding of the reinsurance industry.
Knowledge Of Underwriting Principles: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Underwriting Principles And Concepts, Including Risk Assessment, Policy Analysis, And Pricing Strategies.
Relevant Education: A Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field, Such As Finance, Mathematics, Or Actuarial Science, Is Typically Required For An Internship In Underwriting.
Analytical Skills: Interns At Reinsurance Group Of America Need To Have Strong Analytical Skills To Evaluate Data, Identify Trends, And Make Informed Decisions Based On Their Findings.
Detail-Oriented: The Underwriting Process Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Accurately Assess Risk And Make Sound Underwriting Decisions.
Communication Skills: Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills Are Essential For An Intern In Underwriting. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Complex Information In A Clear And Concise Manner To Both Internal And External Stakeholders.
