We are currently seeking an experienced Affordable Housing (LIHTC) Underwriter to join our team and help us continue our mission of making homeownership a reality for low-income individuals and families. As an underwriter, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and evaluating the financial feasibility of affordable housing projects.   1. Evaluate Affordable Housing Projects: Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of potential affordable housing projects to determine their financial feasibility.
  2. Understand LIHTC Program: Possess a strong understanding of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and its requirements in order to accurately assess project eligibility.
  3. Conduct Financial Risk Assessments: Utilize financial modeling and risk assessment techniques to evaluate the financial viability of affordable housing projects.
  4. Collaborate with Team: Work closely with team members, including loan officers and project developers, to gather necessary information and ensure accurate underwriting decisions.
  5. Maintain Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the underwriting process.
  6. Develop Recommendations: Provide well-informed recommendations and solutions to mitigate risks and improve the success of affordable housing projects.
  7. Communicate Effectively: Communicate underwriting decisions and recommendations clearly and effectively to all stakeholders, including clients and colleagues.
  8. Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Stay current on industry trends and developments related to affordable housing and LIHTC program guidelines.
  9. Promote Mission: Demonstrate a strong commitment to the company's mission of promoting economic and social equality through access to affordable housing.
  10. Uphold Company Values: Uphold the company's values of integrity, innovation, and excellence in all aspects of the job.
  11. Continuously Improve Processes: Identify areas for process improvement and offer suggestions to enhance the underwriting process.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Financial Analysis Skills: As An Affordable Housing Underwriter, It Is Important To Have A Strong Understanding Of Financial Statements, Tax Returns, And Cash Flow Projections To Accurately Assess The Creditworthiness Of Potential Lihtc Projects.

  • Knowledge Of Affordable Housing Programs: This Role Requires A Deep Understanding Of The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Lihtc) Program, As Well As Other Affordable Housing Programs Such As Hud Programs, Bond Financing, And Other State And Local Programs.

  • Risk Assessment And Mitigation: An Affordable Housing Underwriter Must Be Able To Assess And Mitigate Risks Associated With Affordable Housing Projects, Including Market Conditions, Tenant Income Levels, And Potential Regulatory Changes.

  • Attention To Detail: Underwriting Affordable Housing Projects Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure Compliance With Program Requirements And To Accurately Assess The Financial Viability Of Each Project.

  • Communication And Collaboration Skills: This Role Involves Working Closely With Various Stakeholders, Including Developers, Attorneys, And Government Agencies. Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Essential To Effectively Underwrite And Close Lihtc Transactions.
