- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients of all ages.
- Collect, label, and process specimens according to established procedures.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all collected specimens.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, following all safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner, providing clear instructions and answering any questions or concerns.
- Accurately record and maintain patient information and test data.
- Prepare and package specimens for transport to the laboratory.
- Adhere to all established policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Continuously maintain and improve technical skills and knowledge through ongoing training and education.
- Collaborate with other members of the laboratory team to ensure efficient and accurate testing processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle all patient information with sensitivity and discretion.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to phlebotomy and laboratory testing.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent patient care and customer service.
Certification And Training: A Phlebotomist At Quest Diagnostics Should Have Completed An Accredited Phlebotomy Training Program And Hold A Current Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa).
Knowledge Of Phlebotomy Techniques: A Strong Understanding Of The Various Techniques And Procedures Used In Phlebotomy Is Essential For This Position. This Includes Knowledge Of Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Other Blood Collection Methods.
Attention To Detail: Accuracy Is Crucial In A Phlebotomist Role, As Samples Must Be Collected, Labeled, And Handled Correctly To Ensure Accurate Test Results. A Successful Candidate Should Have A High Level Of Attention To Detail And Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures.
Interpersonal And Communication Skills: As A Phlebotomist At Quest Diagnostics, You Will Interact With A Variety Of Patients On A Daily Basis. The Ability To Communicate Effectively And Build Rapport With Patients Of All Ages And Backgrounds Is Essential For This Role.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Quest Diagnostics Is A Busy And Fast-Paced Environment, And The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Be Able To Handle A High Volume Of Sample Collections While Maintaining A High Level Of Accuracy And Quality. The Ability To Work Efficiently Under Pressure Is A Must For A Phlebotomist At Quest Diagnostics.
