  1. Perform blood draws and other specimen collection procedures in a safe and accurate manner.
  2. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of collected specimens.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  4. Interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner, providing exceptional customer service.
  5. Verify patient information and accurately label specimens.
  6. Utilize proper techniques and equipment to collect, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory.
  7. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  8. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure timely and accurate specimen collection and processing.
  9. Troubleshoot any issues or concerns that may arise during the collection process.
  10. Maintain accurate and complete records of specimens collected and processed.
  11. Stay up-to-date with any changes or updates in phlebotomy procedures and techniques.
  12. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  13. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Phlebotomy: A Phlebotomist At Quest Diagnostics Must Hold A Current Certification In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: Phlebotomists Are Responsible For Accurately Identifying And Labeling Patient Samples. Therefore, A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Crucial For This Role.

  • Experience In Venipuncture And Capillary Collection: Quest Diagnostics Is A High-Volume Laboratory, So Experience In Both Venipuncture And Capillary Collection Is Essential For A Phlebotomist To Be Successful In This Role.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Phlebotomist, Accuracy Is Critical. This Includes Correctly Labeling Samples And Recording Patient Information, As Well As Following Proper Safety Protocols To Prevent Cross-Contamination.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Phlebotomists Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Patients And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes Explaining Procedures And Calming Anxious Patients, As Well As Relaying Important Information To The Laboratory Team.
