Job Description

As a Student Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) at Purdue University, you will play a crucial role in promoting a safe and healthy environment for all members of our campus community. This hands-on position will provide you with valuable experience in the field of occupational health and safety, as well as the opportunity to make a positive impact on the well-being of our students, staff, and faculty.   1. Conduct regular safety inspections of campus facilities and report any potential hazards or violations to the appropriate department.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs for students, staff, and faculty.
  3. Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards.
  4. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, trainings, and incidents.
  5. Conduct investigations of accidents or incidents and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
  6. Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  8. Communicate effectively with members of the campus community to promote safety awareness and encourage safe practices.
  9. Provide support and guidance to students, staff, and faculty on safety-related matters.
  10. Assist with the procurement and maintenance of safety equipment and supplies.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Health And Safety Or Related Field.

  • Certified Occupational Health And Safety Technician (Ohst) Or Willingness To Obtain Certification Within 6 Months Of Employment.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations And Guidelines Related To Occupational Health And Safety.

  • Experience Conducting Safety Inspections And Audits, And Developing And Implementing Safety Policies And Procedures.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Students, Faculty, And Staff To Promote A Culture Of Safety On Campus.
