Purdue University's Nursing Online Library is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice/Reference Librarian to join our team and help us provide top-notch support for our online nursing programs.   1. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the resources and tools available in the field of nursing, including databases, journals, and other online resources.
  2. Act as a resource and expert for students and faculty, offering guidance and instruction on how to effectively use online resources to support their academic and research needs.
  3. Collaborate with faculty to identify and select appropriate resources for course materials and assignments.
  4. Provide reference services both in person and online, including virtual reference assistance through chat, email, and other communication platforms.
  5. Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in online resources and information literacy, and incorporate them into library services and instruction.
  6. Create and deliver engaging and interactive online instructional sessions for students and faculty, covering topics such as database searching, citation management, and evaluating sources.
  7. Develop and maintain online research guides and tutorials to support the research needs of online nursing students and faculty.
  8. Participate in collection development and management, including evaluating and selecting new resources to support the nursing curriculum.
  9. Collaborate with other librarians and staff to promote library resources and services to the nursing community through outreach and marketing efforts.
  10. Actively participate in professional development opportunities and maintain knowledge of best practices in academic librarianship, particularly in the field of nursing resources.
  11. Contribute to the overall goals and initiatives of the Nursing Online Library, and assist with special projects and initiatives as needed.
  12. Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students and faculty, promoting diversity and equity in all aspects of librarianship and education.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Library Science Or Information Science From An Ala-Accredited Institution.

  • Experience Working In A Healthcare Or Nursing Library Setting, Preferably In An Academic Environment.

  • Knowledge Of Online Resources And Databases Specific To Nursing And Healthcare, Such As Pubmed And Cinahl.

  • Familiarity With Instructional Design And Online Teaching Techniques, As Well As Experience Teaching Information Literacy Skills To Nursing Students.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Faculty, Students, And Staff In A Diverse Academic Community.
