- Oversee the management and preservation of all archival materials and special collections within the university.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the acquisition, organization, and access of archival materials and special collections.
- Collaborate with academic departments and faculty to incorporate archival materials and special collections into research and curriculum.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff and students working within the archives and special collections department.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and individuals to acquire new collections and promote the university's collections.
- Plan and oversee special events and exhibits showcasing the university's collections.
- Stay current on best practices and emerging trends in archival management and preservation.
- Manage the budget and resources for the archives and special collections department.
- Assist students, faculty, and researchers with accessing and utilizing archival materials and special collections for academic purposes.
- Contribute to the overall strategic planning and direction of the university's archives and special collections department.
Advanced Degree In Library Science Or Related Field - The Assistant Dean Should Possess A Master's Or Doctoral Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field, Such As Information Science Or Archival Studies. This Will Ensure They Have A Thorough Understanding Of Archival Principles And Practices.
Extensive Experience In Managing Archives And Special Collections - The Ideal Candidate Should Have Several Years Of Experience Working In Archival Settings, With A Strong Background In Managing And Maintaining Archives And Special Collections. This Includes Experience In Collection Development, Preservation, And Digital Archives.
Demonstrated Leadership Skills - As An Assistant Dean, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Overseeing The Archives And Special Collections Department. They Should Have Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team, Develop Strategic Plans, And Make Critical Decisions.
Knowledge Of Clinical Research And Healthcare - The Position Involves Overseeing The Clinical Archives, Which Will Require A Deep Understanding Of Clinical Research And Healthcare Practices. The Candidate Should Have Experience Working In A Healthcare Or Research Setting, As Well As A Strong Understanding Of Relevant Laws And Regulations.
Teaching And Research Experience - As A Clinical Associate/Full Professor, The Candidate Will Be Expected To Teach And Conduct Research In Addition To Their Administrative Duties. Therefore, They Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Teaching And Research Excellence, As Well As A Strong Publication Record In Relevant Fields.
