  1. Provide academic advising to students in the fields of horticulture and landscape architecture, helping them navigate their academic journey and make informed decisions about their courses and academic path.
  2. Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the horticulture and landscape architecture curriculum, including course requirements and prerequisites, to effectively guide students.
  3. Utilize strong communication skills to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff in a professional and supportive manner.
  4. Stay up-to-date on current trends and developments in the fields of horticulture and landscape architecture to provide students with relevant and accurate information.
  5. Assist students in setting academic and career goals, and create individualized plans to help them achieve those goals.
  6. Collaborate with other academic advisors, faculty, and staff to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to student success.
  7. Maintain accurate and organized records of student advising sessions and other relevant information.
  8. Monitor and track students' academic progress, and intervene when necessary to provide support and resources to help them succeed.
  9. Participate in departmental and university events and initiatives to promote the horticulture and landscape architecture programs and engage with students.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in academic advising and the fields of horticulture and landscape architecture.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Knowledge Of Purdue University's Academic Programs, Policies, And Procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Academic Advising Within The Horticulture And Landscape Architecture Field.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Advise And Mentor Students.

  • Familiarity With Career And Internship Opportunities In The Horticulture And Landscape Architecture Industry.
