- Provide personalized academic guidance to students based on their individual goals, interests, and academic needs.
- Stay updated on Purdue University's academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements to effectively advise students on their academic journey.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with students to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address academic challenges and opportunities for students.
- Assist students in developing academic plans and selecting appropriate courses to fulfill degree requirements.
- Monitor and track student progress towards academic goals, and intervene when necessary to ensure timely completion of degree requirements.
- Serve as a resource for students on various academic and non-academic matters, and refer them to appropriate campus resources when needed.
- Conduct regular check-ins with students to assess their academic progress and provide timely feedback and support.
- Assist in the development and implementation of academic support programs and workshops to enhance student success.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in academic advising and higher education to continuously improve services for students.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
- Participate in departmental and university-wide meetings, trainings, and events to support the academic advising program and promote student success.
- Serve as an advocate for students and advocate for their needs and concerns to university administration when necessary.
- Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by the university and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
Master's Degree In Counseling, Education, Or A Related Field, With A Focus On Academic Advising Or Student Affairs.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Academic Advising At The College Or University Level.
Knowledge Of Purdue University's Academic Programs, Policies, And Procedures.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Advise And Support A Diverse Student Population.
Ability To Use Technology And Data To Track Student Progress And Make Informed Advising Recommendations.
