  1. Conduct thorough evaluations of patients in need of kidney transplants to determine eligibility and develop treatment plans.
  2. Perform necessary procedures such as biopsies, dialysis, and post-transplant care.
  3. Monitor and manage the care of patients post-transplant, including medication management and follow-up appointments.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to provide education and support.
  5. Stay up-to-date on advancements and best practices in nephrology and transplant medicine.
  6. Collaborate with other members of the transplant team (surgeons, nurses, social workers, etc.) to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
  7. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
  8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  9. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in patient care.
  10. Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients and their families during what can be a challenging and emotional time.
  11. Display a positive and professional attitude, representing the values and mission of Providence St. Joseph Health.
  12. Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth and development to improve skills and knowledge.
  13. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols.

  15. Serve as a resource and mentor to other medical staff and trainees, sharing expertise and knowledge.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: A Transplant Nephrologist At Providence St. Joseph Health Must Hold A Doctor Of Medicine (M.d.) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (D.o.) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.

  • Board Certification: Candidates For This Position Should Be Board Certified Or Eligible In Nephrology And Transplant Nephrology By The American Board Of Internal Medicine (Abim).

  • Fellowship Training: The Ideal Candidate Will Have Completed A Fellowship In Nephrology And Transplant Nephrology, With A Focus On Kidney Transplantation.

  • Clinical Experience: At Least 2-3 Years Of Clinical Experience In Nephrology And Transplant Nephrology Is Required For This Position, Preferably In An Academic Medical Center Or Large Healthcare System.

  • Licensure: A Valid Medical License To Practice In The State Where Providence St. Joseph Health Is Located Is Required. Candidates Must Also Be Eligible For Medical Staff Privileges At Providence St. Joseph Health Facilities.
