Job Description

Attention all surgical technologists with a passion for Neuro and Spine procedures! Providence St. Joseph Health is seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic team. As a Surgical Technologist in our Neuro and Spine department, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise and knowledge to assist in life-changing surgeries for our patients. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, able to handle high-pressure situations, and is committed to providing exceptional patient care. If you have at least 2 years of experience in a similar setting and are certified, we would love to have you on our team.   1. Assist surgeons during Neuro and Spine surgeries by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed.
  2. Ensure all surgical equipment and supplies are properly sterilized and prepared for procedures.
  3. Collaborate with the surgical team to create a safe and sterile environment for surgeries.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all instruments and supplies used during surgeries.
  5. Monitor and anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
  6. Prepare and position patients for surgery, including proper draping techniques.
  7. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients before, during, and after surgeries.
  8. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols and guidelines.
  9. Communicate effectively with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.
  10. Continuously maintain and update knowledge of surgical techniques and procedures.
  11. Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room.
  12. Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain certification and stay current with industry developments.
  13. Contribute to creating a positive and supportive work environment.
  14. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
  15. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  16. Assist with maintaining inventory and ordering necessary supplies for the Neuro and Spine department.
  17. Mentor and train new surgical technologists as needed.
  18. Continuously assess and improve processes to ensure efficiency and quality of care.
  19. Provide exceptional patient care and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical team and/or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: The Candidate Must Possess A Valid Certification As A Surgical Technologist From An Accredited Program Or Institution.

  • Specialization: The Candidate Must Have Specialized Training And Experience In Neurosurgery And Spine Procedures.

  • Knowledge Of Equipment: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Surgical Equipment And Instruments Used In Neurosurgery And Spine Procedures, Including Their Setup And Maintenance.

  • Critical Thinking Skills: The Candidate Must Have Strong Critical Thinking Skills And Be Able To Anticipate The Surgeon's Needs During Procedures, As Well As Troubleshoot And Problem Solve In High-Pressure Situations.

  • Communication Skills: The Candidate Must Have Excellent Communication Skills And Be Able To Effectively Communicate With The Surgical Team, Patients, And Their Families. This Is Especially Important In The Complex And Delicate Procedures Involved In Neurosurgery And Spine Surgeries.
