
Senior Clinical Ethicist

- Serve as a key resource for clinicians, patients, families, and leadership regarding ethical issues in healthcare.
- Provide guidance and support to healthcare teams in navigating complex ethical dilemmas.
- Promote ethical decision-making and ensure the delivery of patient-centered care.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant ethical principles and their application in the healthcare setting.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to clinical ethics.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address ethical concerns and provide recommendations.
- Educate and train staff on ethical principles and their importance in healthcare.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to facilitate ethical decision-making.
- Conduct ethical consultations and document recommendations.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to ethical issues.

- Represent the organization at conferences and other professional events related to clinical ethics.
- Collaborate with community organizations and faith-based groups to promote ethical awareness and education.
- Provide support and guidance to patients and families facing difficult ethical decisions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of ethical consultations and recommendations.
Advanced Degree In Bioethics Or Related Field: A Senior Clinical Ethicist At Providence St. Joseph Health Should Possess An Advanced Degree In Bioethics, Medical Ethics, Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Individual Has A Strong Foundation In Ethical Principles And Can Apply Them Effectively In A Clinical Setting.
Experience In Healthcare Ethics: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working In The Field Of Healthcare Ethics. This Could Include Experience In A Clinical Ethics Committee, A Hospital Ethics Consultation Service, Or A Similar Role.
Knowledge Of Ethical Standards And Laws: A Senior Clinical Ethicist Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Ethical Standards And Laws Related To Healthcare, Including Hipaa, Informed Consent, And End-Of-Life Care. This Knowledge Is Essential For Providing Ethical Guidance And Support To Healthcare Providers, Patients, And Families.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Requires Frequent Interaction With A Variety Of Stakeholders, Including Medical Staff, Patients, Families, And Community Members. Therefore, It Is Crucial For A Senior Clinical Ethicist To Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate Complex Ethical Issues And Facilitate Productive Discussions.
