  1. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  2. Review and interpret medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
  3. Perform drug utilization reviews and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medication profiles.
  5. Communicate with healthcare providers and patients regarding medication therapy and any medication-related concerns.
  6. Participate in patient counseling sessions and provide education on medication use, dosing, and potential side effects.
  7. Utilize pharmacy software systems to process and verify medication orders.
  8. Help maintain inventory levels and assist in ordering and stocking medications.
  9. Adhere to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  10. Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure efficient and accurate workflow.
  11. Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings and trainings.
  12. Continuously learn and stay up-to-date on new medications, therapies, and industry developments.
  13. Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  14. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  15. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
  16. Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervising pharmacist.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Doctor Of Pharmacy (Pharmd) Program From An Accredited Institution: This Is The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Pharmacist Intern Position At Providence St. Joseph Health. A Pharmd Program Provides Students With The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Practice Pharmacy.

  • Active Pharmacy Intern License: Candidates Must Possess A Valid Pharmacy Intern License From The State In Which They Will Be Working. This License Is Obtained After Passing The Necessary Exams And Completing The Required Hours Of Practical Experience.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Pharmacist Intern, You Will Be Interacting With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Pharmacy Laws And Regulations: As A Healthcare Organization, Providence St. Joseph Health Places A High Value On Compliance With Laws And Regulations Related To Pharmacy Practice. A Pharmacist Intern Should Have A Good Understanding Of These Laws And Regulations To Ensure Safe And Ethical Practice.
