
Nurse Educator - Labor and Delivery

- Develop and implement educational programs that align with the goals and objectives of Providence St. Joseph Health and the Labor and Delivery department.
- Collaborate with department leaders to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance the skills and knowledge of the nursing staff.
- Conduct training and educational sessions for nurses on a variety of topics related to Labor and Delivery, such as childbirth, postpartum care, and breastfeeding.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, such as simulations, case studies, and hands-on activities, to engage and educate nurses.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to new nurses during their orientation period, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care to patients.
- Assess the learning needs of individual nurses and create personalized development plans to help them achieve their professional goals.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure consistency and continuity in patient care and education.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements and best practices in Labor and Delivery nursing, and incorporate them into educational programs and training sessions.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for nurses, providing guidance and support as they navigate complex patient cases and situations.
- Maintain accurate records of educational sessions, attendance, and outcomes.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance personal knowledge and skills, and share this knowledge with the nursing staff.
- Communicate regularly with the nursing staff and management to address any concerns or issues related to education and training.
- Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to nursing education and patient care.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Current Rn License: A Nurse Educator For Labor And Delivery At Providence St. Joseph Health Must Hold A Current And Active Registered Nurse License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn) Is Required For This Position, And A Master's Degree In Nursing (Msn) Is Preferred.
Clinical Experience In Labor And Delivery: Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Recent Clinical Experience In A Labor And Delivery Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Current Best Practices And Evidence-Based Guidelines.
Teaching Or Precepting Experience: The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In Teaching Or Precepting Nurses, Students, Or Other Healthcare Professionals In A Clinical Setting.
Certification In Obstetric Nursing: Although Not Required, Certification In Obstetric Nursing Through The National Certification Corporation (Ncc) Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Demonstrates Advanced Knowledge And Expertise In The Field Of Labor And Delivery.
