
Nurse Educator - Labor and Delivery

- Develop and implement educational programs and training for nurses in the labor and delivery department.
- Create and update educational materials and resources to ensure that nurses are utilizing the most current and evidence-based practices.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify learning needs and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to develop and maintain competency standards for labor and delivery nursing staff.
- Provide orientation and ongoing education for new and existing staff to ensure they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for their roles.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for nurses, offering guidance and support in their professional development.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement among the labor and delivery team.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that patient care is delivered in accordance with best practices and standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide input on evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.
- Stay informed on current trends and developments in labor and delivery nursing to incorporate into educational programs.
- Facilitate workshops, seminars, and other educational activities to enhance the knowledge and skills of labor and delivery nurses.
- Communicate regularly with nursing leadership to provide updates on the progress and effectiveness of educational programs.
- Maintain accurate records of educational activities and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff and other departments to facilitate communication and promote collaboration.
- Serve as a role model for professional behavior and ethical standards in nursing education.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nursing: A Nurse Educator - Labor And Delivery At Providence St. Joseph Health Must Possess A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, With Preference Given To Candidates Who Hold A Master's Degree In Nursing Education.
Active Rn License In The State Of Employment: All Applicants For The Nurse Educator - Labor And Delivery Position Must Hold A Current And Active Registered Nurse License In The State Where The Job Is Located.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Labor And Delivery: To Be Considered For This Role, Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In A Labor And Delivery Unit, With A Strong Understanding Of Best Practices And Current Trends In The Field.
Certification In Inpatient Obstetrics (Rnc-Ob) Or Certified Nurse Educator (Cne): Preferred Candidates Will Have A Certification In Inpatient Obstetrics (Rnc-Ob) Or Certified Nurse Educator (Cne). This Demonstrates Advanced Knowledge And Expertise In The Field Of Labor And Delivery.
Previous Experience In Teaching Or Education: The Ideal Candidate Will Have Previous Experience In Teaching Or Education, Either In A Formal Or Informal Setting. This Could Include Experience As A Preceptor, Mentor, Or Instructor In A Healthcare Setting.
