  1. Provide specialized care to mothers and newborns during the perinatal period.
  2. Utilize clinical expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  4. Educate patients and their families on perinatal care, including breastfeeding, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  5. Monitor and document patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
  6. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
  7. Serve as a resource and mentor for other healthcare team members.
  8. Stay current on developments and advancements in perinatal care.
  9. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  10. Act as an advocate for patients and their families, promoting their rights and preferences.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the perinatal unit.
  12. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  14. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, educational opportunities, and trainings.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional healthcare to the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Nursing With A Specialization In Perinatal Care - The Clinical Nurse Specialist Must Have A Graduate-Level Education In Nursing With A Focus On Perinatal Care, As This Role Requires Advanced Knowledge And Expertise In This Specialized Area.

  • Valid State Nursing License And Certification As A Clinical Nurse Specialist - Candidates Must Hold An Active Nursing License In The State Where They Will Practice, As Well As A Certification As A Clinical Nurse Specialist From A Recognized Accrediting Organization.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Perinatal Nursing - In Addition To Formal Education, A Clinical Nurse Specialist Must Have Several Years Of Hands-On Experience In Perinatal Nursing, Preferably In A Hospital Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills - This Role Requires Working Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Patients, And Families, So The Ideal Candidate Must Possess Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Ensure Effective Teamwork And Patient Care.

  • Ability To Develop And Implement Evidence-Based Practices - The Clinical Nurse Specialist Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Current Research And Best Practices In Perinatal Care And Be Able To Apply This Knowledge To Develop And Implement Evidence-Based Protocols And Procedures Within The Unit.
