Providence St. Joseph Health is seeking a Bariatrics/Weight Loss Psychologist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of our patients. In this role, you will work closely with our bariatric surgery program, providing comprehensive psychological evaluations and support to patients throughout their weight loss journey.   1. Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for patients seeking weight loss treatment.
  2. Collaborate with the bariatric surgery program to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
  3. Provide ongoing support and counseling for patients throughout their weight loss journey.
  4. Utilize evidence-based therapies to address psychological barriers to weight loss.
  5. Monitor and track patients' progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  6. Educate patients on healthy coping strategies and stress management techniques.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  8. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  9. Stay current on research and developments in the field of weight loss psychology.
  10. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of program protocols and procedures.
  11. Provide support and guidance to other members of the weight loss team.
  12. Act as an advocate for patients and promote their overall well-being.
  13. Adhere to ethical and legal standards in all aspects of patient care.
  14. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives related to weight loss and mental health.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve upon the psychological support services offered to weight loss patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree In Psychology, Preferably With A Specialization In Bariatrics Or Weight Loss.

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As A Psychologist, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities For Bariatric/Weight Loss Patients, Such As Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, And Mindfulness-Based Techniques.

  • Familiarity With The Medical And Psychological Complexities Of Obesity And Weight Management, Including Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders And Chronic Health Conditions.

  • Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Compassionate And Effective Care To Patients.
