Responsibilities:

  1. Process and prepare tissue samples for analysis and examination by pathologists, following established protocols and procedures.
  2. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  3. Utilize a variety of techniques and stains to properly prepare tissue samples for analysis.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procedures, tests, and results.
  5. Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of samples.
  6. Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
  7. Adhere to all safety and quality control protocols to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  8. Continuously monitor and troubleshoot laboratory procedures and equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in developing and implementing new procedures and protocols.
  10. Communicate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
  11. Stay current on new and emerging technologies and techniques in histotechnology and incorporate them into laboratory practices as appropriate.
  12. Comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including CLIA and CAP regulations.
  13. Demonstrates a commitment to Providence St. Joseph Health's mission, vision, and values in all interactions and work responsibilities.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or Related Field

  • Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl) By The Ascp

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting

  • Strong Knowledge Of Histological Techniques, Including Tissue Processing, Embedding, Sectioning, And Staining

  • Familiarity With Laboratory Information Systems And Ability To Troubleshoot Technical Issues.
