  1. Design and implement efficient and user-friendly search systems that meet the needs of our users.
  2. Develop and maintain the performance of search algorithms and systems to ensure optimal search results.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  4. Conduct research and stay up-to-date on the latest search technology trends and best practices.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise with search systems.
  6. Create and maintain documentation for search systems, including code reviews and technical specifications.
  7. Continuously optimize search systems for better performance and user experience.
  8. Work with product management and UX teams to understand user needs and provide input on search system improvements.
  9. Mentor and provide guidance to junior search engineers.
  10. Stay organized and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders on project progress and any potential issues.
  12. Rigorously test and debug search systems to ensure high quality and reliability.
  13. Adhere to coding standards and best practices for efficient and maintainable code.
  14. Keep track of performance metrics and provide regular reports on search system performance.
  15. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to search systems.

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive Experience In Search Engine Development: A Senior Search Engineer At Proquest Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Developing Search Engines, With A Strong Understanding Of Information Retrieval Principles And Techniques.

  • Proficiency In Programming Languages And Tools: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Proficient In Programming Languages Such As Java, Python, And C++, As Well As Have Experience With Search Engine Frameworks And Libraries Such As Lucene And Elasticsearch.

  • Knowledge Of Search Algorithms And Machine Learning: A Senior Search Engineer Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Search Algorithms And Techniques, As Well As Experience With Machine Learning Methods For Improving Search Results.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Proquest Values Engineers Who Can Think Critically And Creatively To Solve Complex Problems. A Senior Search Engineer Should Have Excellent Analytical Skills And Be Able To Troubleshoot And Debug Search Engine Issues.

  • Experience With Large-Scale Search Systems: As Proquest Deals With A Vast Amount Of Data, The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience With Developing And Optimizing Large-Scale Search Systems, Including Knowledge Of Distributed Computing And Cloud Technologies. Experience With Working On Search Projects In A Global Context Is Also Preferred.
