  1. Conduct thorough research to identify and uncover newsworthy stories and trends in the research and academia field.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with key sources and experts in the research community.
  3. Write engaging and informative articles that provide in-depth coverage of important developments in the research landscape.
  4. Edit and proofread articles written by other team members to ensure accuracy and quality.
  5. Stay up-to-date with current events and developments in the research industry to inform news coverage.
  6. Collaborate with other team members to brainstorm and pitch ideas for news stories.
  7. Use data and analytics to inform editorial decisions and improve content performance.
  8. Follow ethical standards and guidelines in journalism, including fact-checking and proper sourcing.
  9. Meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  10. Attend relevant conferences and events to stay informed and build industry connections.
  11. Work closely with the marketing team to promote articles and increase readership.
  12. Continuously suggest improvements and innovations to enhance the quality and reach of our news content.
  13. Mentor and provide guidance to junior journalists on the team.
  14. Represent the company at industry events and conferences as a subject matter expert.
  15. Adhere to company standards and policies, including style guidelines, branding, and tone of voice.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Journalism: A Senior Journalist At Proquest Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In Journalism, Preferably In A Research Or Academic Setting. This Experience Should Include Strong Writing, Editing, And Research Skills, As Well As An Understanding Of News Values And Journalistic Ethics.

  • Proven Track Record Of Publishing: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Portfolio Of Published Articles, Preferably In The Field Of Academic Or Research News. This Could Include Articles In Reputable Publications, Blogs, Or Other Digital Media Platforms.

  • Knowledge Of Research Methods And Practices: Proquest Is A Leading Provider Of Research Materials, And A Senior Journalist Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Research Methods And Practices. This Includes Knowledge Of Academic Databases, Citation Styles, And The Ability To Critically Evaluate And Synthesize Complex Research Findings.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Senior Journalist, The Candidate Should Have Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills. This Includes The Ability To Interview Sources, Write Clear And Compelling Articles, And Present Complex Research In An Accessible Manner To A General Audience.

  • Ability To Work Independently And Meet Deadlines: Proquest's Senior Journalist Will Be Responsible For Managing Their Own Workload And Meeting Tight Deadlines. The Candidate Should Be Self-Motivated, Highly Organized, And Able To Work Effectively Under Pressure. Experience With Project Management Tools And The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Team Is Also Desirable.
