  1. Conduct thorough research and analysis of chemical patents to accurately identify and classify them according to established criteria.
  2. Utilize knowledge of chemistry and patent classification systems to efficiently organize and categorize chemical patents for clients.
  3. Ensure accuracy and consistency in patent classification through careful review and cross-checking of data.
  4. Collaborate with team members to continuously improve and refine patent classification processes and procedures.
  5. Stay up-to-date with advancements in the field of chemistry and patent classification to inform and enhance classification efforts.
  6. Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their needs and provide relevant and accurate information.
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies and innovations through the analysis and classification of chemical patents.
  8. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.
  9. Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  10. Provide support and training to colleagues and team members on patent classification processes and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Chemistry Or Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Chemistry Is Necessary For Understanding The Complex Terminology And Concepts Used In Patent Classification.

  • Knowledge Of Patent Law And Classification Systems: Familiarity With International Patent Classification Systems Such As Ipc And Cpc, As Well As Uspto Patent Classification, Is Essential For Effective Classification.

  • Attention To Detail: The Ability To Accurately And Consistently Classify Patents Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail. Any Errors In Classification Could Have Significant Consequences For Proquest's Clients.

  • Strong Research And Analytical Skills: Patent Classification Specialists Must Be Able To Quickly And Efficiently Research And Analyze Patent Documents To Determine The Appropriate Classification Codes.

  • Experience With Patent Databases And Software: Proficiency In Using Patent Databases And Software Tools, Such As Derwent Innovation And Patbase, Is Highly Desirable For This Role. Previous Experience In A Similar Position Or Working With Patents Is Also Advantageous.
