My name is Zoe Rigas and I'm currently a senior at Penn State's Main Campus in State College, PA, although I am originally from Delaware County, PA. I understand that I am newly entering into the field of nutrition-related careers, but I am hoping to gain relevant experience in an environment that will assist me in achieving my professional and personal goals. 
I have a strong grasp in both the scientific and public health sides of nutrition. My initial area of focus in nutrition was biochemistry, but I eventually took on a minor in Global Health because I felt my interests began to align more closely with the public policy aspects of nutrition. I have a specific interest in the connection between inequitable nutrition access and its health consequences in underserved populations. I have had the privilege to be able volunteer with local communities in both Philadelphia and State College with the Remote Area Medical (RAM) program, which seeks to provide routine health screenings, dental care, and medical advice pro bono for uninsured individuals. Further, I have routinely volunteered with Central Pennsylvania Community Action's food pantries, which primarily serves Pennsylvania's rural and homeless populations. My interest for nutrition inequity and food availability has taken me all the way to South America, where I spent two months in Quito, Ecuador, shadowing family medicine practitioners and developing my final thesis paper on the topic of the obesity epidemic in South America. 
In terms of my professional goals, I plan on eventually attending medical school to practice in Family Medicine, but I hope to spend the next several years exploring the field of nutrition. 
Outside of career and academic-related endeavors, I spend most of my time at the gym, cooking meals from TikTok, thrift shopping, and spending time with friends.

*   Delivered meals to residents and patients in their rooms when requested.
*   Worked closely with dietitians to ensure proper nutrition for each resident and patient
