I am a recently separated Navy veteran with years of diving and aviation experience. My most recent position held was that of Diving Officer for the Naval Aeromedical Institute’s Hyperbaric Department. I also spent a few years in Naval Aviation, as well as diving in support of submarine operations.

I studied clinical psychology at Trinity College while also dual majoring in Language Studies. Therefore, I have a strong sense of interpersonal understanding.

As the diving officer, I drove the decompression chamber in support of all hyperbaric operations within the Northwestern Florida region. This included aviation water survival training, Navy, Army, Marine, and Air Force special operations dives, and the Naval Experimental Diving Unit. Our chamber provided emergency medical decompression capability for diving related injuries. Therefore, our team had to be well versed in diving medicine and physiology.

Diving Officer

In addition to my duties as NAMI Diving Officer, I functioned as an control officer in the training air wing 5 operations department. I was responsible for tracking the training status of over 1200 student military aviators, in order to ensure a smooth transfer of personnel between different phases of training. I also ensured all personnel were up to date on annual qualifications, and briefed the commander on the status of the training levels of the personnel pool.
  
Additionally, I was responsible for mastering aerodynamics, meteorological systems, aircraft engine systems, flight rules and regulations, and aeronautical navigation.

Training Air Wing 5 Operations Officer

I served as a Navy Diver in support of the North Atlantic submarine fleet, proving underwater technical troubleshooting for various vessels. Having been responsible for qualifying on every diving platform the U.S. Navy owns, I utilized my skills to problem solve in the undersea environment with the direction from topside support engineers.
  
In addition to SCUBA, I am qualified to dive rebreathers, surface supplied equipment, and to drive hyperbaric decompression chambers. I also possess a mastery of diving medicine, physics, underwater machinery and tools, underwater repair, demolition, and small boat operations.

Presented for sustained acts of heroism and meritorious service while volunteering to fulfill the role as NAMI Diving Officer in order to relieve critical manning in the department. LTJG Hoets utilized previously attained diving qualifications to function on the 3 man chamber team, preventing the total loss of the department due to manning shortages. LTJG Hoets supported 80 hyperbaric oxygen treatments for multiple patients, while assisting the Safety Officer with critical maintenance oversight.
