McKay Healthcare and Rehabilitation is a Public Hospital District that solely operates as a 42 bed Skilled Nursing Facility. As a brand new licensed Nursing Home Administrator, I had many challenges and successes.  I worked closely with Staff, 5 elected Board Members, a contracted Lawyer, 3 County Commissioners, and the County Treasurer regarding the financial issues of the facility. 

This was a very challenging due to the amount of warrants and Accounts Payable debt. We where able to bring the warrant line down from approximately $1.4 million  to approximately $200,000 at one point.  We reduced expenditures, increased admissions and really focused on capturing outstanding accounts receivables that had been ignored. We increased the knowledge for the staff related to reimbursement rate opportunities and budgeting. We focused on documentation related to patient care to support MDS coding for reimbursement.

Administrator/Superintendent

Worked closely with the Administrator to complete my AIT program. Was granted approval from the Nursing Home Administrator Board to sit for my exam in 2017.

Director of Operations/AIT

Worked as a Nursing Facility Case Manager for the Department of Social and Health Services. Provided services for clients whom resided in Nursing Home and needing to return back into the community. Worked closely with Nursing Homes and Hospitals to assess and set up services in the home.

Worked as the facility Social Worker for the Clinic, Hospital, and Swing Beds. Maintained P &P, provided resources for staff, patients, and community, Admissions, Discharge Planning, Care Plans, behavior management, monthly reporting, budget writing and oversight for my department, understanding of the Medicare/Medicaid guidelines for nursing homes.
