Hello! I'm happily applying to the Editorial Assistant position. I’ve chosen the field of editing because I have a strong affinity for language and consuming literature. I've been a writer for as long as I can remember, writing stories before I even knew how to type. Beyond writing, there's something fascinating about editing and working with a piece. I don’t feel like I’ve read something unless I’ve interacted with it, which is why most of my books are completely marked up. Helping to establish an author’s voice and style through line editing is validating for both the author and me as writers. It becomes a form of collaborative art, and I find that to be really beautiful. The books I’m most interested in usually fall under literary realism. Stories like Joyce Carol Oates’ “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” introduced me to this genre, and it remains one of my favorites. I’m still partial to a good surrealist story, like Eudora Welty’s The Robber Bridegroom or Gabriel García Marquez’s 100 Years of Solitude. Even though they’re unrealistic, they’re still fascinating character studies. Lately, I’ve been reading some of Alessandra Torre’s work – romance novels are fun and she’s such a riot. As long as the stories are well-written and the characters are interesting, there aren’t many genres I won’t read. I could go on forever but I'll keep this short so let me know if there's anything else you want to know!

I have a BFA in Creative Writing and a BA in French. While attending college, I was selected to be a member of the Ford Apprentice Scholar's Program, which was a two-year program meant to give students a specialized focus into their major as well as the field of higher education as a whole. I was inducted into the French National Honors Society and graduated with Honors, having a 3.79 GPA. Throughout my time, I was head of the school's improvisation team and gave multiple readings of my stories and poems.
