As a first-generation American, my parents immigrated from a pueblo called Santa Rosa in Mexico. Their journey and sacrifices have instilled in me a deep appreciation for my heritage and a strong sense of community. My passion lies in healthcare, particularly for the most vulnerable populations. I've developed this passion through personal experiences, as my family has faced multiple medical emergencies. As the Director of Quality Assurance & Risk Management at Families Together Community Health Center, I was pivotal in ensuring the highest standard of patient care and safety. As the Operations Manager for Surgery at Kaiser Permanente in Orange County Hospitals, I played an instrumental role in the day-to-day management of surgical services across multiple hospital locations. I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the surgical department's operations, including staff management, budgeting, equipment procurement, and facility maintenance.

A significant part of my role involved ensuring the seamless coordination of patient care across the surgical services continuum. This meant I worked closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients received the highest standard of care. I also collaborated with different departments within the hospital to optimize patient flow and increase efficiency in the operating rooms.

As part of my role, I also focused on staff management and development. I was responsible for hiring, training, and performance evaluations of the surgical team. I took a proactive approach to fostering a positive working environment and ensuring all staff were equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver top-quality care.

My main responsibility was to serve as a liaison between our organization and the community, ensuring open and effective communication. I organized and led community outreach programs to educate the public about the various health services available in their community. This involved creating and delivering presentations, coordinating health fairs, and attending community events to represent our organization.

I also worked closely with local community clinics, including free clinics, community health centers, and federally qualified health centers, to understand their unique needs and challenges. I was instrumental in facilitating collaborations and partnerships to ensure a more integrated and effective community health system.

Fundraising was another important aspect of my role. I led fundraising campaigns, grant writing, and donor relations initiatives to secure necessary funding for our organization and its programs. My efforts significantly contributed to the financial sustainability of the health centers we supported.

In addition, I was responsible for managing public relations and media interactions. I developed press releases, managed social media accounts, and responded to media inquiries to raise awareness about our mission and the vital services provided by our community health centers.

Lastly, I also played a crucial role in advocating for policies that benefit community health centers and their patients. I worked with local, state, and federal lawmakers, providing them with the necessary information to make informed decisions about healthcare policy.
