  1. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical substations to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  2. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with substation equipment and take appropriate corrective actions.
  3. Perform repairs and replacements of faulty equipment to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations.
  4. Monitor and control substation equipment and systems to ensure proper functioning and prevent outages.
  5. Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute maintenance schedules and outage procedures.
  6. Follow company and industry safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  7. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and any incidents or accidents.
  8. Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in substation technology.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate work and troubleshoot issues.
  11. Adhere to all company policies and procedures and maintain a professional and ethical work ethic.
  12. Assist with emergency response situations and outage restoration efforts as needed.
  13. Keep work area clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  14. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or concerns.

Job Qualifications
  • Technical Knowledge: A Substation Tech Must Possess A Strong Understanding And Knowledge Of Electrical Systems, Including Transformers, Circuit Breakers, And Protective Relays. They Should Also Have A Thorough Understanding Of Substation Equipment, Including Switchgear And Control Systems.

  • Experience In Substation Maintenance: Previous Experience In Substation Maintenance, Construction, Or Operation Is Required For This Position. This Includes Experience With Testing And Troubleshooting Equipment, Performing Maintenance Tasks, And Adhering To Safety Protocols.

  • Electrical Certification: A Substation Tech Must Have A Valid Electrical Certification, Such As A Journeyman Electrician License Or An Associate Degree In Electrical Technology. This Certification Demonstrates The Individual's Knowledge And Competency In The Field.

  • Ability To Read And Interpret Technical Drawings: Substation Techs Must Have The Ability To Read And Interpret Technical Drawings, Including Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, And Construction Plans. This Is Essential For Understanding The Layout And Operation Of The Substation And Its Equipment.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Substation Techs Must Have Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills To Identify And Resolve Issues With Substation Equipment. This Requires The Ability To Think Critically, Troubleshoot Effectively, And Make Sound Decisions Under Pressure.
