  1. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on electrical substations to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
  2. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with substation equipment, including transformers, breakers, switches, and protective relays.
  3. Operate and maintain substation equipment, including monitoring and controlling power flow, voltage, and current.
  4. Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute substation maintenance schedules and outage procedures.
  5. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of oneself and others.
  6. Keep accurate records of substation maintenance activities and report any issues or concerns to supervisors in a timely manner.
  7. Participate in training and development programs to continuously improve technical skills and knowledge of substation operations.
  8. Proactively identify potential issues and recommend solutions to improve substation efficiency and reliability.
  9. Assist in the commissioning and testing of new substation equipment.
  10. Interact with customers and respond to inquiries or concerns related to substation operations.
  11. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in substation technology.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge Of Electrical Systems: A Substation Tech Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Electrical Systems, Including Transformers, Circuit Breakers, And High Voltage Equipment.

  • Technical Skills: Candidates Should Possess Strong Technical Skills, Such As The Ability To Read And Interpret Electrical Schematics, Use Testing Equipment, And Troubleshoot Issues.

  • Safety Training: Safety Is A Top Priority In The Electrical Industry, And Ppl Corp. Requires Substation Techs To Have Completed Safety Training Courses, Such As Osha 10 Or Nfpa 70E.

  • Experience In Substation Maintenance: Prior Experience In Substation Maintenance Is Preferred, Including Knowledge Of Substation Equipment And Procedures For Maintenance And Repair.

  • Communication And Teamwork: Substation Techs Work Closely With Other Team Members And Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate On Projects And Ensure Safe Operations Within The Substation.
