Job Description

As an Engineer at PPL, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and controlling our distribution system to provide safe and uninterrupted electricity to our customers.   1. Monitor and control the distribution system to ensure reliable and efficient energy distribution.
  2. Collaborate with team members and other departments to identify and troubleshoot system issues.
  3. Utilize technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to quickly and effectively resolve system disruptions and outages.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and implement new technologies and processes to improve system performance.
  5. Participate in emergency response and outage restoration efforts, working closely with field teams to minimize downtime and restore service to customers.
  6. Conduct regular system assessments and analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop strategies for mitigation.
  7. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and protocols for the Distribution Control Center.
  8. Provide technical expertise and support to other departments and external stakeholders.
  9. Foster a culture of safety and compliance, adhering to all industry regulations and company policies.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and cost savings within the Distribution Control Center.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members and management, providing regular updates on system performance and issues.
  12. Train and mentor junior engineers and new team members.
  13. Maintain accurate records and documentation of system operations and events.
  14. Remain available for on-call and after-hours support as needed.
  15. Uphold the company's values and represent PPL Corp. in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Engineering: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Electrical, Mechanical, Or Industrial Engineering Is Required For An Engineer I/Ii/Iii/Principal Position At Ppl Corp. This Degree Should Be From An Accredited University Or College.

  • Experience In Distribution Control Center Operations: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-4 Years Of Experience Working In A Distribution Control Center Environment. Previous Experience With Scada Systems, Outage Management, And Load Forecasting Is Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Electrical Distribution Systems: A Strong Understanding Of The Principles And Practices Of Electrical Distribution Systems Is Essential For This Role. This Includes Knowledge Of Distribution Equipment, Protective Relaying, And Load Flow Analysis.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: The Ability To Analyze Complex Data, Identify Trends, And Troubleshoot Issues Is Crucial For Success In This Role. Candidates Should Have A Strong Aptitude For Problem-Solving And The Ability To Make Sound Decisions Under Pressure.

  • Communication And Teamwork: Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential For An Engineer I/Ii/Iii/Principal At Ppl Corp. The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Cross-Functional Teams And Communicate Technical Information To Non-Technical Stakeholders Is Also Important.
